Guilin-Yangshuo · Be a Mountain Farmer

4 Days, 3 NightsYangshuoMin. age 6Max 6 people

About This Journey

You used to measure time in meetings and notifications. Here, you measured it in the distance of a bamboo raft drift, the number of eggs you could buy for two yuan at the market, the minutes it took for the mist to burn off the peaks. You traded your watch for a farmer's rhythm — sunrise, market, river, dusk. You didn't take photos of the water buffalo; you stopped and watched them chew grass for ten minutes. You didn't pose with the cormorants; you held the lamp while the fisherman untangled their lines. You didn't "experience" farm life. You became part of it — and when you left, you carried the smell of rice paddies and woodsmoke with you, all the way home.

Why This Journey

Glide down the Li River on a bamboo raft. Nine-Horse Mountain rises on your left. The 20-yuan view waits around the bend

Fish the ancient way under the night sky. Watch trained cormorants dive into dark waters and surface with silver fish — a tradition that has survived 1,300 years

Wander the ancient market on market day. Clasp hands with a vendor under your sleeve and bargain in silence, just like a Silk Road merchant

Pedal through rice paddies along the Yulong River, just the shared quiet of the countryside

4-Day Guilin-Yangshuo Itinerary Map

Itinerary

Arrive in Yangshuo. Your driver meets you at the station and takes you to your hotel in the town center. Drop your bags and take a moment to settle in.

Head into West Street, then duck into the back alleys behind the main drag — where small shops still sell hand-painted fans and woven bamboo baskets, crafts passed down through generations, made the same way they always have been. You will find which workshops still use traditional methods, which artisan paints the best fans.

The evening offers two choices: take a stroll along the Li River and watch the fishing lights drift across the water; or, if it happens to be a Saturday, head to Yulong Bridge for the Golden Dragon Parade (optional) — dozens of bamboo rafts linked together, their lights tracing the dragon's long body across the dark river.
